Jeff Bezos is stepping down as the CEO of Amazon
Jeff Bezos, Founder and CEO of the giant Amazon, has now retired as the company’s CEO and will be replaced by Andy Jassy, CEO at AWS. The move will be officially implemented in the third quarter of 2021. In addition, the successor of Jassy has not been decided yet. Jassy studied in Harvard Business School and joined Amazon right after, in 1997. He launched AWS in 2006 and managed the company which grew to be the cloud-providers market leader. In the last quarter of 2020, AWS’s revenue has jumped in 28% (related to the previous year), and got to $12.74B.
Microsoft releases Azure Quantum Service to Public Preview
Microsoft has announced the release of Azure Quantum Service to public preview in the previous week, which is considered as a meaningful step in the field of quantum computing, which aspires to solve problems which are not usually solved in the conventional ways of machines. The service will deliver solutions in the fields of finances, medicine, chemistry and logistics - according to Microsoft. The company has also written: "Developers, researchers, systems integrators, and customers can use it to learn and build solutions based on the latest innovations - using familiar tools in the most trusted public cloud”.
Google Cloud Workloads is now generally available
GCP has announced the general availability of Google Cloud Workloads https://www.infoq.com/news/2021/01/google-cloud-workflows/, a service which will allow GCP customers to manage HTTP-based API services with serverless workloads on GCP. Workflows Connectors are also available in public preview, in addition. The service does not require any infrastructure management at all, and the platform enables users to scale on demand, including scaling down to zero when no requests are processed.
