Amazon launches AWS instances powered by Habana’s AI accelerator chip
AWS today announced the general availability of Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2) DL1 instances. While new instance types generally aren’t particularly novel, DL1 (specifically DL1.24xlarge) is the first type in AWS designed for training machine learning models, Amazon says — powered by Gaudi accelerators from Intel-owned Habana Labs.
New Microsoft Azure Tool Helps Eliminate Weak and Insecure Passwords
Microsoft released a public preview of the new Azure Active Directory tool that aims to help network administrators to do away with weak passwords in enterprises. Azure Active Directory (Azure AD) is Microsoft's cloud access and identity management service. It is primarily used by companies to implement single sign-on and multi-factor authentication on their systems, thus increasing corporate protection.
Google Announces Distributed Cloud
Google announced Google Distributed Cloud, a set of hardware and software solutions to extend Google infrastructure to the edge and into customer data centers. The first products released as part of Google Distributed Cloud are Google Distributed Cloud Edge, available in preview to run 5G core and radio access network functions at the edge, and Google Distributed Cloud Hosted, a service that does not require connectivity to Google Cloud to manage infrastructure or APIs
