Intel set to buy Israeli co Moovit for $1b

Intel Corp is set to acquire Israeli company Moovit for about $1 billion. The company has developed a public transport and mobility journey planner app. Intel Capital, the venture capital investment arm of Intel, is one of the shareholders in Moovit.

In February 2018, after Intel Capital invested in Moovit's $50 million financing round, cofounder and CEO Nir Erez said, "Moovit expects to surpass 1 billion users by 2021 and to expand significantly the number of cities that use Moovit’s data analytics to improve urban mobility."

This will be the second major acquisition in Israel by Intel in recent months after it purchased chipmaker Habana Labs for $2 billion at the end of 2019.


Microsoft to Buy Israeli Cyber-security Startup CyberX

The U.S. software giant Microsoft is expected to announce in the next few days that it has signed a deal to acquire the Israeli industrial cybersecurity startup CyberX for what sources say will be $165 million.

TheMarker revealed before the coronavirus crisis that the two sides were in negotiations. They are now in the midst of getting signatures on the deal from all of CyberX’s shareholders.

CyberX has developed an internet of things cybersecurity platform for factories and industrial control systems, using machine learning to analyze real-time activities and identifying anomalies. CyberX’s customers are in sectors, such as electric power, energy, water, and pharmaceuticals, that operate critical industrial facilities and infrastructure.


Cloud Security Startup Orca Security Raises $20 Million in Series A Round

Tel Aviv-based cybersecurity startup Orca Security Ltd. announced Tuesday it has raised $20 million in a series A funding round led by Multinational venture capital fund GGV Capital, an early backer of Chinese e-commerce giant Alibaba.

Existing investor YL Ventures GP Ltd. and Silicon Valley CISO Investments (SVCI) also participated in the round, bringing Orca Security’s total funding raised to date to $26.5 million.

Orca Security develops cloud security software for detecting malware and vulnerabilities and protecting assets on Amazon Web Services (AWS), Microsoft Azure, and Google Cloud Platform.

The company plans to use the latest funding for expanding the team, furthering research and development, and establishing a go-to-market strategy.
