PFP invests £15m in start-up Polymateria to tackle plastic pollution
European investment platform Planet First Partners (PFP) has invested £15m in British technology start-up company Polymateria to roll out its ‘Biotransformation’ technology. The new technology fully biodegrades common forms of plastic such as polyethylene and polypropylene, which would otherwise turn into harmful microplastics. It will allow manufacturers to make fully recyclable and biodegradable products.
Startup gets 2.5 million euro EU grant for nanotech-based respiratory device
Israel medical startup NanoVation has received a 2.5 million euro grant from the European Union’s Horizon 2020 EIC Accelerator program to help develop a new nano-material-based sensor that can warn of worsening respiratory conditions.
The grant will allow NanoVation to further develop and commercialize its “SenseGuard” product, to monitor patients at hospitals and at home, in real time and non-invasively, the company said.
Israeli startups Hippo, Gett elevate mixed $250m
Two U.S.-based startups based and led by Israelis introduced main fundraisings on Tuesday. Hippo Enterprises, an internet insurer based mostly in Palo Alto, California, mentioned it secured $150 million in new capital whereas Gett, a shared-mobility startup, took in $100 million.
